| April 1986 Attended US ARMY Basic Training: Ft Jackson, SC. Basic training is where every soldier receives training in the basic military combat skills. Since the main business of the Army is national defense, it is essential that each soldier is fully versed in the basics of combat regardless of the branch in which he or she will serve. |
| December 1988 thru August
1991 Platoon Sergeant: South Carolina OPFOR Regiment. In order to train its soldiers realistically and effectively, The US ARMY created its own Opposing Force or "OPFOR". This unit was to be used as a tool in combat training. An OPFOR soldier was both an instructor and evaluator. OPFOR soldiers were trained to fight using enemy techniques and equipment. This allowed American troops the ability to sharpen its skills while fighting against a Soviet-trained enemy. As an OPFOR platoon sergeant, my duties included Individual training of OPFOR soldiers, Setting up combat training missions, Leading squad sized elements on mock combat missions, and evaluating American troops on their combat techniques. |
